What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?

To enable us to provide a comprehensive quote we require a brief explanation of the service required such as wedding photography, photo booth or party for example. We also need to know the location of the event, or locations if photography at more than one venue is required. It is also essential that we know the number of hours that you require our photography services. If quoting for wedding photography, for example, please add at least two hours before the ceremony time if bridal prep photography is required. In the case of full wedding coverage, the end time is usually around thirty minutes after the first dance. Finally, it is important to make clear if you are wanting a wedding album or if you prefer to have all your photographs in digital form. You may, of course, want the digitals as well as an album. If this is the case do please let us know.

What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a provider, make sure you not only check out their profile page but also their website and, if they have one, their Facebook/Instagram feed. This will enable you to see further samples of their work and give you an idea of how active and consistent they are in their line of work. Also check out any reviews they might have on here, Google or on social media sites. If at all possible, arrange to meet up with your photographer. This is often overlooked but a wedding photographer is likely to be around for the best part of your day so it is vitally important that you get along and have a great rapport with him or her. Getting together for a chat over a coffee also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to see concrete samples of their work in the form of wedding albums and portfolios. If the distance is a problem, at the very least, speak to your prospective provider on the telephone.

Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.

I have always had a passion for photography and I began my venture into photography in the days of film and I have actually photographed weddings for family members, friends and friends of friends for almost forty years now. However, in 2012, Sue and I decided to set up a business to provide a complete photography service covering weddings as well as family portraits, maternity, newborn and commercial assignments. The best part of the job, especially with 'people' photography, is in capturing those special moments and in seeing our client's faces as they relive those moments when they see the finished photographs we provide.

Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?

We have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Add to Event to others as it is an excellent way of attracting new business.
Add to Event has enabled us to reach out further than we were able by simply relying on our website which mainly attracts customers fairly local to us. As such we have managed to secure photography assignments much further afield and enabled us to photograph events and weddings in new and varied venues. Our first booking through Add to Event was actually in an area slightly further than we would normally travel. So far, this wedding has to be on our top ten list. The clients, the venue, everything about it was wonderful. Our clients were also over the moon with the quality of our work and the service we provided which shines through in the glowing review they gave us on this platform. We continue to reach out and respond to requests in locations new to us. This wider audience has really impacted on the number of bookings we are now taking and bookings through Add to Event are now coming in for up to two years ahead.
