Photographing events of all types and sizes, Owen Harvey has attended weddings and corporate events, as well as birthdays of varying ages as part of his work. His substantial experience in these events has equipped him to handle any commission.
What do you need to know from an organiser in order to provide a comprehensive quote?
For us to provide a comprehensive quote to a customer, ideally we need the event date and start time, a brief explanation of the type of event they are hosting, the estimated number of guests, and potential location, whether it's an indoor or outdoor event. We would also find a rough budget and the type of photography they are looking for helpful. From this, we can use our experience and expertise to put together a suitable equipment list and design.
What advice would you give to a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check the provider has a website, and look to see if their style of photography is what you are looking for. I would not employ anyone who doesn't have a website. Never pay in full up front. a 50% deposit should be all that is needed. Get an understanding of when the images will be delivered and how, it is best if this is in writing.
Please tell us a little bit about how and why you started the business.
I started my photography business because it meant I could use my artistic talents to provide a service I am proud of and provide for my family. I very much enjoy what I do - I provide a valuable service to my clients and I can make a living out of it.
It makes me happy knowing that my clients will be able to re-live their memories when looking back over my images in years to come.
Please tell us about a booking you've had through Add to Event, how did it go? Would you recommend us to others?
I would definitely recommend Add To Event to others, and have. All my clients from Add to Event have been wonderful. It has brought me the jobs, instead of me having to go looking for them. I just have to make sure that the quality of my work and the service I provide stands out. Through Add to Event, I have captured birthday celebrations for adults and children, which is always such a joy to see such friends and family in the celebration of one's life.
I have covered company events which want to reward its employees for all the work they have put in to furthering the company's prosperity. I have even covered weddings which is a celebration of the start of a new life together by two individuals.
