About Sophie Snell Storyteller
Sophie Snell is a professional storyteller based just outside Derby. A warm, engaging and lively performer, Sophie regularly travels throughout the UK and even overseas to entertain both children and adults at public events, festivals, storytelling clubs, schools, libraries and museums. A regular at her local National Trust property, Kedleston Hall, other clients have included Cadbury's, CineMagic Belfast, Nottingham Libraries, County Wexford Libraries (Ireland), Chatsworth House and Burghley House, Wirksworth Festival and Chipping Campden Literature Festival. Storytelling is a great option for a party - whether something engaging and a bit different for children who love stories, or a surprise for adults - ghost tales by candlelight around a fire or an atmospheric set of tales for a special family or corporate celebration.
With a wide repertoire of stories, based largely on traditional folk tales plucked from the stones and bones of the British Isles and Northern Europe, she loves tales that twist and turn, finding the unexpected, the comical and the intriguing. Sophie also writes and is the author of "The Pirate's Sister" and "Dragon's Tales". Last year she took her adult show "Seven Deadly Sins" to Buxton Festival Fringe where she was nominated for two awards under "Spoken Word" and "New Writing". "To possess that charisma, that energy, that memory! Spellbinding and better than any film or tv! Fantastic evening - wonderful!" Amanda Bowman, BBC Radio Nottingham. "I am envious of her kids bedtime stories, she is phenominal!" "An excellent addition to Wirksworth Festival - amazing!" Audience comments, performance, Wirksworth Festival 2010.
